Weekend Cookbook Challenge #6 - Picnic Food

Weekend Cookbook Challenge #6 is all about Picnic Food - and I don't know about where you live, but I am happy that we are finally getting some weather to go along with all these fabulous entries! A big thanks to all our participants, and hope to see you at the next challenge.

Please email me with any corrections to sara.wcc@gmail.com

Alicat from Something So Clever starts us off with a very refreshing looking Apricot Cooler.

Mary at Breadchick made an entire feast, and also gives you a teaser about the upcoming Cookbook Spotlight.

The Chocolate Lady at In Mol Araan not only makes a lovely Courgette Souffle, but brings some art appreciation too!

Say HI to Deb at Here and There! She's made an impressive Courgette Crown Bread. Deb's post is in sections, so go here (hee! get it?) and scroll down to read the whole yummy thing.

Over at My Life As A Reluctant Housewife, Gabriella bakes some perfect looking Frittatas from Martha Stewart. Gabriella has posted the recipe here.

Georgia from Not A Domestic Diva bakes some fantastic looking Chewy Fudgy Brownies.

Haalo and her lovely blog Cook Almost Anything At Least Once join us from "Down Under" with a spectacular dish - Escabeche of Ocean Trout.

Laura Rebecca from Laura Rebecca's Kitchen prepared 2 very picnic worthy dishes - Lemon Sugar "Snap" Cookies and Fresh Tomato and Basil Pasta.

Over in Germany, Meeta from What's For Lunch Honey also has zucchini on the mind for her perfect Zucchini and Fennel Frittata.

Michelle from Je Mange la Ville has made a very nice looking dip - a Greek Lima Bean Dip from one of the great Moosewood books. Yum!

Mickey from Kitchen Inferno has definitely made the most interesting dish of the challenge: Jellied Chicken.

The wonderful Ruth from Once Upon A Feast outdoes herself again with a wonderful picnic meal featuring Wheat Berry and Lentil Salad

Lis at La Mia Cucina makes her favorite Summer Tortellini Salad. Looks great!

Kalyn over at Kalyn's Kitchen puts a spin on a traditional picnic food and gives us Curried Stuffed Eggs.

My fellow Albertan Paige at Chef Girl has made some great looking Chicken Salad Wraps. I do love chicken and grapes!

The lovely Ulrike from Kuchenlatein baked a very hearty and impressive Picnic Pie.

As for me over at i like to cook I finally cracked open one of my Jamie Oliver books and made The Best Pasta Salad and Pukka Pineapple with Bashed-up Mint Sugar

Thanks to all of you! Hope you enjoyed the round up, and please join us next time.

On a sad note, I hate to tell you all that Ali has decided to leave the Weekend Cookbook Challenge. I'm sure sad to see her go, as I know all of you are as well. I wish her the best, and hope that she'll make the occasional appearance around here from time to time.

Our next challenge is our seventh. So, Lucky Number 7 is our theme! What do I mean by that? Well, I'm going to let you interpret it any way you wish. To give you some ideas though -
Something gambling related.
A "lucky" food from your or someone else's culture.
A dish with seven ingredients.

You're all smart people. I know you'll figure out something great. Email me your contributions by August 4 and the round up will be posted shortly after.

Until then,
Happy Cooking.

Alicat and Sara

PS - if you'd like to suggest challenge ideas, suggestions in general, or would like to host or co-host a challenge, let me know!

Thanks for the round up. Interesting to see what other people think about picnic. A great pity, that Alicat leaves the WCC, but I'm glad you continue.

All the best from Germany

Ulrike

Nice job on the roundup. Believe me, I know how much work it is.

Sorry to ehar that Ali won't be hosting any more, but I am glad she will still be participating. Ali, take care of yourself. There are a lot of people who care about you, whether you know it or not.

Good job to you both! Ali, I know how it is. Too many deliverables in too short a time for me these days, but so it goes.

However, I might take on a co-hosting role for a challenge in the future. :D

It was fun to participate in this one.
