Cookbook Spotlight - Kitchen Sense by Mitchell Davis

25 food bloggers. 1 cookbook. Outstanding choices.

When Cath and I invited several food blogger friends to join us in our
inaugural Cookbook Spotlight event, we were all curious to see what everyone
would choose from Mitchell Davis's new cookbook, "Kitchen Sense," to make.
As it turned out, everyone chose something different -- and with surprising
results. One foodie made that most "Southern" of dishes -- fried chicken --
in Singapore!

And despite initial disappointments regarding the lack of photos, we
discovered that half the fun of the event was seeing how fellow food
bloggers style and photograph their masterpieces -- so technically, the book
does have photos!

Here's part two of the round up -- Cath has part one at A Blithe Palate -- enjoy!

Lis over at La Mia Cucina is from Ohio, USA and made Davis' "Ultimate Macaroni and Cheese".
Ali Cat from Something So Clever in Montana, USA made a very wonderful looking "Grilled Portobello and Sun Dried Tomato Sandwich with Garlic Herb Mayo".
Up next is Jennifer from Fallen Souffle and her delicious "Berry Crisp".
Tania from the lovely Candied Quince made a mouthwatering "Warm Barley Salad with Green Beans and Corn".
Dave over at The Fumbling Foodie lives in Glendale Arizona, USA. Dave didn't post about a dish he made, but he has a fantastic view on the book.
Here's Adam from Austin, Texas USA and his site
Men In Aprons who tried out the recipe for Cranberry Jonnycakes.
And now let's head over to Sweetnicks and read Cate's review, shall we?
Great minds think alike... Ruth at Once Upon a Feast from Toronto, Ontario also made "The Ultimate Macaroni and Cheese"!
Kalyn is from Salt Lake City, Utah, USA and on her super website
Kalyn's Kitchen she tried the "Creamy Cucumber Salad".
And let's head over to Vancouver, British Columbia, say Hi to Linda at
Kayak Soup and drool over her "Strawberry Shortcake".
Another fellow Canadian, the fabulous Jasmine from
Confessions of a Cardamom Addict made 4 delicious looking dishes - "Banana Cake", "Porcini Risotto", "Roast Pork, Tuscan Style" and "Roasted Tomato Soup with Chickpeas Spinach and Cumin".
From Melbourne, Australia here's Haalo from
Cook Almost Anything Once. Haalo tried out a huge number of recipes! "Spicy Moroccan Olive Salad", "White Anchovies with Garlic and Parsley", "Fresh Corn Chowder", "Tuna Tartar with Toasted Sesame", "Salmon Tartar with Preserved Lemons and Olives", "Duck Prosciutto", and "Rugelach".
Mary's from Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA and over at
The Sour Dough she too cooked up a feast:"Grilled Portobello with Garlic Herbed Mayonniase Sandwich", "Hamburger Heaven", "Roasted Red Peppers", "Corn on the Cob", "Summer Fruit Cobbler", "Burst Cherry Tomatos", and "Basic Vinegrette".
raves about her "Black Eyed Pea Fritters With Country Ham".
As for me here in Calgary, Alberta, I made 3 dishes at i like to cook
- "Burst Cherry Tomatos", "Buttermilk Biscuits with Sausage Gravy", and "Succotash".

The verdict? A great book and a lot of fun. Thank you to everyone who
agreed to join us and helped us satisfy our curiosity to the question --
what happens when 25 foodies get the same cookbook?

Very nice job on coordinating this. It was lots of fun having people make things from the same book. Some people were a lot more ambitious than I was, but I'm sure I'll keep cooking from the book.
